In this section we give you an assessment of the Top 100 independent preparatory schools in England and Wales for 2006. These positions are compiled from the average scores from Key Stage 2 tests for the 3 years from 2002 to 2004. Submission of these results is voluntary and only about one third of independent prep schools chose to submit their results. Thus this table does indicate top performing schools, but it does not mean that a missing school is necessarily a poor performer.

Note.1. There are a lot of gaps in our data, because the information is not freely available or a school will not supply it. If your target school is not in the above table we suggest you ask it for its track record in KS2 tests.
Note 2. KS tests are not the only criteria by which to judge a school (read our eGuide on selection factors click here). Be aware your child may not necessarily thrive in a high pressure academic environment – take advice.
