Best Senior Day Schools
There are approximately 700 independent senior schools in the UK, covering the age range 11 to 18. Some of these are senior schools which only accept pupils from age 13. Otherwise your child can be considered for entry to a senior school at any age between 11 to 16 subject to availability of places, but the majority will enter at 11 or 13 when they will normally be required to pass an entrance examination. Most senior schools also take a sixth form entry at age 16 subject to satisfactory evidence of academic achievement in their previous school. In this section we cover 5 aspects of choosing a senior school for your child – note if you are seeking a boarding school, we recommend you transfer to the best
boarding schools section
A. Best Senior School League Tables – transfer to this section to view the top 100 senior schools measured by A levels, International Baccalaureate or GCSEs. For schools which do not meet the 100 threshold, their exam results (but not a ranking) may be stated in the Find a school table, if we obtained their results.
B. Find a senior school – if you are looking at the top 100 league tables, then just clicking your cursor on a school name will take you to the school’s details. If you want to find a school by area then follow this
link, enter a location and then choose “senior school 11 to 18”.
